We at Vunique Vacations specialize in creating unforgettable vacation experiences with homes while also priding ourselves in being good neighbors not only to those residing in the areas surrounding our vacation homes, but also to our community in the way of charitable donations. We are proud to partner with the following organizations to offer vacation experiences that help the organizations meet their fiscal goals, or fulfill the wish of a child in need.
All-Star Children’s Foundation
Mission: The mission of All Star Children’s Foundation is to build brighter futures for children in foster care through innovation, science, and compassion.
Overview: The current foster care system all too often fails to address childhood trauma and the complex needs of children and families with child welfare involvement. Studies show that children placed in foster care have experienced multiple forms of trauma and face lifelong struggles including health problems, homelessness, early pregnancy, arrest, incarceration, and sex trafficking. Up to 80% of children in foster care have significant mental health issues, compared to approximately 18-22% of the general population. ASCF plans to change the trajectory of the lives of children for the better through its six core programs.
Captains for Clean Water
Mission: Captains For Clean Water is a grassroots 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that fights to restore and protect our water resources.
Overview: Captains for Clean Water was established in 2016 by a couple of local fishing guides fed up with the poor management of Florida’s natural waterways and estuaries. They work to educate and empower people to advocate on behalf of their water quality. One of the Captains for Clean Water’s main initiatives is the Everglades restoration. Its objective is to restore the natural flow of excess fresh water from Lake Okeechobee through the Florida Everglades, by removing the dikes, canals, and loch systems that currently redirect this fresh water containing phosphate-laden farm runoff to our saltwater eco-system and Gulf waters, which may fuel algae blooms and other environmental concerns.
Coastal Conservation Association
Mission: The purpose of the Coastal Conservation Association is to advise and educate the public on the conservation of marine resources. The objective of CCA is to conserve, promote, and enhance the present and future availability of those coastal resources for the benefit and enjoyment of the general public.
Overview: CCA was created in 1977 after drastic commercial overfishing along the Texas coast had decimated redfish and speckled trout populations. A group of 14 concerned recreational anglers gathered in a local tackle shop to create the Gulf Coast Conservation Association to turn the tide for conservation. Only four years later, gill nets along the Texas coast were outlawed and both red drum and speckled trout were declared game fish. This previously unimaginable victory launched a new era in marine resource conservation.
The successful conservation movement that started with the “Save the Redfish” campaign got the attention of anglers across the Gulf and by 1985, chapters had formed all along the Gulf Coast. By the early ‘90s, the South- and Mid-Atlantic regions had CCA chapters, in 2007, Washington and Oregon chapters were formed and in 2015, the CCA California chapter was created.
Animal Resource Coalition
Mission: The Animal Rescue Coalition wants to make spay and neuter accessible to everyone, with the ultimate goal of ending the killing of adoptable dogs and cats. ARC offers affordable spay/neuter services to pet owners, local shelters, animal service agencies, and resource groups for whom they further reduce their fees in the spirit of collaboration and working toward a true “no-kill” goal.
Overview: County shelters struggle with a high volume of cats and dogs coming into their facilities. In 2022, more than 55 different rescue groups approached ARC for spay/neuter services, leading to the care of more than 3,304 dogs and cats who were on their way to loving homes. Vunique proudly donates our worn towels, though considered “damaged” by hospitability standards, are still large, fluffy, and in remarkable condition, for the use of the ARC. Both dogs and cats alike receive a little bit of luxury while waiting for their forever homes.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County
Mission: Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
Overview: Since 1970, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties have played an integral role in the Sarasota County community, providing daily programs and services to thousands of young people. The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The vision is to provide a world-class Club experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who walks through our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.
The Florida Center
Mission: For more than 40 years, The Florida Center for Early Childhood has been the leading provider of therapeutic services, early education, and healthy development for children in southwest Florida. The programs focus on infants and children through fifth grade who are at-risk academically, socially, or economically. As needs continue to grow in our community, The Florida Center is committed to helping local children and families overcome their challenges and reach their full potential.
Overview: Each year, The Florida Center hosts their winter gala and silent auction to help raise funds to go towards helping the community. This year, Vunique proudly donated a 2024 stay to their upcoming 36th Annual Gala’s live auction. We are very excited to welcome them as a new charitable partner, and we are honored to have the opportunity to support the Sarasota community and The Florida Center’s efforts.
Make A Wish
Mission: Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Wishes are more than just a nice thing. And they are far more than gifts, or singular events in time. Wishes impact everyone involved—wish kids, volunteers, donors, sponsors, medical professionals, and communities. For wish kids, just the act of making their wish come true can give them the courage to comply with their medical treatments. Parents might finally feel like they can be optimistic. And still, others might realize all they have to offer the world through volunteer work or philanthropy.
Overview: A wish experience can be a game-changer for a child with a critical illness. This one belief guides us in everything we do at Make-A-Wish. It inspires us to grant life-changing wishes for children going through so much. It compels us to be creative in exceeding the expectations of every wish kid. It drives us to make our donated resources go as far as possible. Most of all, it’s the founding principle of our vision to grant the wish of every eligible child.
Taylor Emmons Fund
Mission: The Taylor Emmons Scholarship Fund will provide opportunities for socio-economically diverse students to experience an independent, college preparatory education at The Out-of-Door Academy’s Upper School. They will learn in an environment which allows students to strive to achieve their highest academic goals and build character through a balanced program of academics, the arts, and athletics.
Overview: The Taylor Emmons Scholarship Fund was created in the wake of Taylor’s untimely tragedy. Although Taylor’s life was cut short he managed to accomplish more in his 19 years than most people wish for in their lifetime. Taylor’s life was full of appreciation, gratitude, kindness and accomplishment. He was fortunate to have many experiences yet never took anything for granted. Family was very important to Taylor. From a very young age Taylor was always concerned for others around him. In 5th grade he earned the trust of an autistic boy in his class and always made sure he was attended to and taken care of at large events, where he knew this boy would struggle. During his High School years at The Out-of-Door Academy, he got involved with the backpack program, which he and his classmates would stuff backpacks for children through All Faiths Food Bank. Although the hole created by his absence can never be filled, his family has created something positive in his honor. And so the Taylor Emmons Scholarship was created and will be awarded to at least one deserving young student each year that otherwise would not have the means to attend this private school.
A Home for the Holidays
Mission: A Home for the Holidays is our effort to donate a luxury vacation to families who have been displaced. Our commitment to our community, both locally and throughout the Gulf Coast of Florida, take high priority at Vunique Vacations. It is always our goal to be a ‘good neighbor’ and to always support our community, its businesses, and its people.
Overview: In the end of 2022, Hurricane Ian caused devastation to many families, including heroic first responders and other local heroes. We at Vunique wanted to show our thanks to those heroes by giving them a place to stay and celebrate the holidays with their families. When Vunique asked our community to nominate a hero for the giveaway, we received so many touching stories that we donated vacations to two families and five gift cards to other nominated families. We hope this small gesture made even a fraction of the impact on their lives as they made on so many others’ lives this year during such a tough time. Vunique Vacations wants to thank all of the first responders, DOT, FPL, Government Agencies, Non-Profits, Small Businesses, and everyone that came together in the wake of Hurricane Ian. It was a truly beautiful representation of humanity and what we are capable of as a community, and we couldn’t be more thankful for the small part we were able to play in that effort.
